Frequently Asked Questions

CountTheOmer.com has been offering low-cost Omer reminders via text message for six years. This year, in an effort to get as many people performing this mitzvah as possible, we are offering CountTheOmer to everyone for whatever price (even free!) that you'd like to pay. Over 90% of CounttheOmer users report that they finish counting the Omer with a bracha (blessing). Why does it work so well?

  • Reminders are sent to your mobile phone, the only device that's always with you.
  • You get reminders in the evening and in the morning, to make sure you never miss a day.
  • A reminder only works if you can act on it. That's why CountTheOmer sends reminders out when it's time to count, never beforehand, and never so late that you don't see it.
  • CountTheOmer knows where you live, and sends out reminders for your timezone. When you get our reminder, you can count immediately, no matter which city, state, or timezone you're in in the continental United States.
  • Your reminder comes with the full Hebrew text of the day's count, transliterated into English. Just read it off your phone, and you've done the mitzvah.
  • CountTheOmer works with nearly any cellular service provider.

The CountTheOmer system is completely automated, and no work is done on Shabbat. Please note that you may be responsible for test-messaging charges from your carrier. We do not sell or share your private information with anyone. Every year, we donate a portion of the proceeds to Tzdeaka (charity). This year we will donate money towards earthquake relief in Haiti.
